Cannelle Bakery Has Received the RSPO Palm Oil Supply Chain Certification

Cannelle Bakery has received palm oil supply chain certification from the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO). RSPO, which consists of 3872 members globally, has been established with the aim of improving the practice of oil production and ensuring the traceability of palm oil from the plantation to the finished product. The biggest European food product merchants and the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) have made a public resolution to sell products (food, household goods and cosmetics) that contain RSPO-certified palm oil only. This will reassure consumers that the products they use are not only qualitative, but also do not contribute to the destruction of vast forest areas for the benefit of new palm plantations. It is the ecological and social factors that give palm oil a bad name and create stereotypes, even though humans have been using it for thousands of years. RSPO was established as a control body that aims to protect natural forests and endangered animal and plant species from further destruction and extermination, as well as to limit the areas of forests that are turned into oil palm plantations. This certification confirms that most of SIA Cannelle Bakery’s products will be manufactured in accordance with the Segregated Supply Chain Model, which provides for the physical separation of certified palm oil from non-certified palm oil sources, while allowing the mixing of palm oil from various certified origins. We at Cannelle Bakery understand the environmental impact of palm oil extraction and fully support initiatives aimed at preserving the environment. At the same time, we see that our activities can contribute to making the use of sustainable palm oil a norm. Realising that much of the palm oil that is used has been extracted without accounting for the environmental impact of these activities, we became a member of The Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) and received palm oil supply chain certification in 2018. Palm oil is integral to the manufacture of bread and confectionery products. We use a small amount of raw materials containing palm oil in the production of pastries and biscuits to improve the quality of our products. We are committed to ensuring that by the end of 2020, all raw materials containing palm oil will be delivered from RSPO-certified suppliers, thus guaranteeing that all of the company's products containing palm oil use palm oil derived from sustainably managed palm plantations.
